"Our daughter was incredibly shy and had never spoken in public before joining Pack 673. After just a few years, she was confidently telling jokes and performing skits in front of the entire Pack! It's been amazing to watch her grow in self-confidence and public speaking skills."
- Alice, parent
"One of the proudest moments of my time as a Den Leader and father was seeing my son and best friend get up in front of two whole Packs to perform a skit they had written themselves! A few short years ago they refused to even think about performing a skit!"
- Tyler L, current co-Den Leader of the Bears
"My eldest son is a Scout that recently moved in with me from his Mothers from across the country. He joined a new Troop, and due to current dynamics, he has to attend/help me with his siblings' Pack meetings. He happened to be wearing his Troop Class Bs the night our Pack was holding the EOL crossover ceremony. As a newer Scouting parent I did not know that the EOLs "crossover" to a Troop and was surprised to see my son's Scoutmaster and peers join us. Shortly after he was invited with them to accept our EOLs and in observing this, I felt a strong sense of pride, as it was my first time seeing him in a position of responsibility."
- Gabe, current Cub Master
"As a mom to two current scouts, I keep supporting my kids in the program for two main reasons, the socialization opportunities and the values that Scouting builds into the program. I have watched my son and daughter learn to make friends with adults and children, set and hold boundaries, and respect the boundaries of others in a constructive way. As a family, we find that referring to the tenets of scouting when we have to reinforce the right behaviors gives us a common vocabulary at home that makes these conversations easier."
- Diana, current parent
“As a parent of three scouts, I’ve seen how packed 673 has shaped my boys into confident, capable citizens. Performing skits and fundraising for our pack has given them public speaking and persuasion skills such that my oldest, as a freshman in high school, advocated with national leaders in Washington DC for STEM funding in schools. Two of my scouts have responded to real first aid student situations calmly and helpfully. All three have demonstrated leadership skills, whether in group challenges at scout events, their high school robotics teams, bands, and sports teams. They listen to others, plan and bring people together to do fun things.
It’s also been great for my youngest Scout, who has ADHD. Thanks to the smaller groups and supportive adults, he has the space to build friendships and practice, self-control, even went out of his routines. I credit their time in Pack 673 for helping them become more responsible, thoughtful, and prepared for whatever comes next.”
