Camping brings the 'outing' into Scouting! It's fun and a great educational tool for our scouts. There are often opportunities to get some rank advancements, crafting, shooting sports, overall fun with your scout friends.
Below are some general links and information to help you prepare for any of our camping activities!
Packing List:
Six Essentials:
Every scout should carry with them the Cub Scout 'Six Essentials'. These are items they carry in their personal gear/day pack when going on hikes or campouts:
First-aid kit: adhesive bandages, moleskin, gauze, antibiotic ointment, etc.
Water bottle: filled and large enough to last until it can be filled again
Flashlight: for emergency use only
Trail food: can be made as a den activity prior to hike or campout
Sun protection: sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater and a hat
Whistle: also for emergency use only
For overnight campouts:
A couple of things to call out - sleeping bags are rated for temperature they can keep you warm in. It's best to get at least a 30 degree sleeping bag for campouts as many of the tent platforms or cabins are not fully enclosed.
All BSA campsites require closed toed shoes to be worn around camp. Even in the summer...so make sure that you have a pair with you so you can enjoy all the activities.
Here's a packing list that will help out for the remaining items to bring along:
Medical Form:
Pre-requisite medical form for all attendees of any camping activities -- needs to be updated yearly: BSA Medical Form A & B
